Okay, here's a deviation for you all, since I know you've been waiting patiently. I actually did this one a little while ago, and honestly, I wasn't sure anyone here would want to see it. But then I thought... every girl watching me knows the value of attractive men, right? Well, this is for you, and anyone who likes rebels, because these guys happen to be both.
These are all the members of Les Amis de'l ABC (The Friends of the ABC) from Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. Actually, Marius, the main young male protagonist from the story, is not in this picture, because he's actually not an official member of the group. These guys start a revolution in the story, build a barricade, and... okay, I won't spoil the ending. But it's a great book, and I love the musical, but the book actually describes every ABC member in all their eccentric glory. I'll try to give you guys a little run down so you can know a little bit about what you're looking at.
The blonde in the center on the bottom is Enjolras. He's known for being gorgeous. (They sometimes refer to him as Apollo, like as in the Greek god, in the book!) He's the super-strict leader. To the right in glasses is Combeferre, the smart bookworm of the group. (I'm most like him, according to an online quiz.) The big-eyed boy next to him is Joly, who's studying medicine but is also a hypochondriac (i.e. thinks he's always sick). The bald guy to Joly's right is Bossuet a.k.a. Lesgles or L'aigle, who's known for being unlucky. (Well, come on, he's bald at twenty-five.) The one with the black hair who's completely upside-down is Courfeyrac, sort of a playboy who always makes wisecracks. The blonde to the left of Courfeyrac (not his left, your left) is Feuilly, who makes fans (yes, the kind you wave in front of your face) and is an orphan. The redhead next to him is Bahorel, probably the most firey rebel of the group. The girly-looking one with long auburn hair next to him is Jehan, or Jean Prouvaire, who is a poet. He even likes flowers, according to the text, and plays flute. And then the semi-shaven and dark haired one reaching toward the blonde Enjolras is the group cynic, Grantaire, who's drunk most of the time and only follows the group around because he VERY much admires Enjolras.
Now, some of these characters DO appear briefly in the musical version. For example, Grantaire is the one who sings the whole "Give me brandy on my breath" thing and has some other funny lines. Enjolras is in the musical, obviously, with the whole "Red and Black" and "Do You Hear the People Sing?" deal, and the others have some bit lines. But the book is probably where they're at their finest. I hope you can enjoy this, even if you don't know a lot about the book, because I had a lot of fun drawing it and thought it came out pretty good. And I did actually do clothing research. I normally draw Enjolras, Courfeyrac, and Joly with ponytails, and everyone's necktie thingy (called a cravat) is normally tied, but they're supposed to look relaxed. ^_^
Les Amis de'l ABC are copyrighted to Victor Hugo and I drew them as his characters, not as the characters from the musical. Nevertheless, the Les Miserables musical belongs to its respective owners as well. I claim no credit for anything... except for my spiffy grass which resembles Astroturf, which is also copyrighted to whoever invented Astroturf. ^_^
Actually, yes, the book is in English. ^_^ I had to read it for a school assignment last year. The unabridged version is over 1,000 pages, so I admit I didn't want to do a report on it... But I still loved reading it, especially because of the great characters. And the plot is probably the best I've ever read. So I'd highly recommend it, as long as you love reading! I read the unabridged paperback version, which is kinda small but extremely thick and has 1,463 pages, I think. But I think any unabridged translation is pretty much the same.

Aw, thanks! Yeah, the book is very, very good, but it is over 1,000 pages long, just to warn you. I had to read it for school, but I still loved it anyway. If you like reading, it'll probably become one of your favorite books if you have the time to read it. ^___^
